Description
Second Duet is a work composited from a series of never performed duets made in 1990.
Second Duet was the second piece of the Twyla Now program, which helped open New York City Center after its year-and-a-half COVID-19 shutdown.
From the original program: “‘The grounded, athletic Second Duet is adapted from a series of duets Tharp composed some thirty years ago but never performed. The work… is set to contemporary composer Thomas Larcher’s Mumien, an uneasy staccato piece for cello and prepared piano that opens like a four-alarm fire.’ – Written by Jamie Fisher
Support for new dance works at City Center is provided by the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation.”
