Description
Four Zooms (2020) is a suite of four short dance films created during the COVID-19 shutdown, conceived as a way to keep dancers moving, collaborating, and artistically connected across distance. Developed specifically for the screen – never intended for live performance – the works utilized Zoom video conferencing, although “Misty Walks” also include in-person elements.
Created with support from the Twyla Moves (2021) program within the American Masters series on PBS, which premiered March 26, 2021, the project reflects a moment when dance artists were reimagining process, space, and presence. Of the four sections, only “Four Square” was featured in the broadcast. The complete cycle – Four Zooms in its entirety – has never been publicly screened.
