Description
In Forevermore, a rolling snare drum off-stage serves to emphasize the movement: one dancer in back on the balcony repeatedly rolls to the floor and stands again while simultaneously rolling her hair down and pinning it back up; at the same time, three dancers below in glittering black leotards perform a wave of jetés. As the drummer moves from one side of the building to the other, the volume of the drum roll and the dynamic of the dancers’ movement increase or decrease depending on the distance of the drummer from the audience. The scale of the movement cycles small to large to small as the dancers move downstage in the crescendos and upstage in the diminuendos.
From the original program: “This concert is possible through the cooperation of the New York State Council on the Arts.”
