Description

Piano Rolls was performed for this concert as a special event. A spotlight followed Tharp as she improvised to QRS Player Piano Roll # Q-152 If I Could Be With You (One Hour Tonight) by James P. Johnson. It was the first and only time that Tharp presented an unstructured improvisation onstage.

 

This performance was a part of the Neuvieme Festival International de Danse de Paris of 1971.
