To open the company's 1993 season at New York City Center, Tharp performed a solo to Buddy Guy's recording of "Fever."  The dancing was slinky, athletic and mischievous. As the music ended, Tharp approached the podium and, still out of breath, began the discussion that continued through the evening's performance.

Fever was danced live only during this season. A recorded performance was included in the television special Twyla Tharp: Oppositions.
